Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Using a mixer, beat butter and sugars together on medium speed until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating until well mixed.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking soda together. Add to mixer gradually (slow setting) and continue beating until combined.
Mix in chocolate chips and form a ball with the dough.
Line a 14" round metal pizza pan with parchment paper and place the dough ball in the middle of the pan. Pat the dough flat and use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a circle. The cookie dough should be about 3/4" from the edge of the pan to allow for expansion during cooking.
Bake for 16-20 minutes, until the cookie is nicely browned.
Cool on a cooling rack and cut into wedges after about 8 minutes of cooling.
